CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW.COM) Details on two possible locations and the cost for the proposed Clarksville Athletic Complex were presented at a special session of the Clarksville City Council Tuesday with the cost for developing one location at $81 million and the other at $79 million.
Initially there were 12 different sites around the city that were considered with two areas finally decided on. The site for $79, 472,607 was 390 acres on Tiny Town Road near Exit 1, with the other one on Rossview Road by Exit 8 which was 420 acres at a cost of $81,421,350.
The presentation came from Chris Camp, President and Co-Owner of Lose & Associates, the consulting firm out of Nashville hired by the city to work on the sports complex proposal. One of the main reasons for the price difference in the two properties is the cost of development.
Camp said that their findings show that the Tiny Town Road location has about 15 larger sinkholes and a lot of heavy earth work could cause more sinkholes to open up. The Rossview Road site has only around eight sinkholes and the property offers better drainage.
Heavier traffic on Tiny Town Road than on Rossview Road was also taken in consideration in the Lose & Associates decision for the site of the sports complex. “All things being equal, I can’t recommend the Tiny Town Road site. We strongly believe that the
Rossview Road site is the best property,” said Camp.
The proposed multi-field complex would include a championship stadium, soccer, lacrosse, and rugby fields, practice fields, tennis courts, and an indoor training facility and could be constructed in phases depending on what is recommended by the consulting firm and what is approved by the city council.
