CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville police said copper thieves caused approximately $5,000 in damage for about $25 worth of copper between Jan 11-14 at homes under construction in the area.

The suspects entered the four homes on Shirley Drive and ripped out the copper from various locations in the houses. Based on a builder estimate, there may be about three pounds of copper taken from each of the houses. The current value of scrap copper is under $2 per pound, but the estimated cost of repairs to the walls and reinstalling the copper could be up to about $5,000.
