MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – A convicted sex offender was arrested Thursday when he brought an external hard drive to investigators that contained child pornography.
James Dale Akins, 47, was already under investigation for possession of child pornography and he brought in an external hard drive for investigators to download work files from his personal computer that had been seized as evidence.
Lead Investigator Julie Webb asked for his permission to view the files that were on the drive, and he agreed. When investigators accessed the drive, they discovered 105 images of hardcore child pornography.
Akins was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and booked into the Montgomery County Jail where he remains held with a $50,000 bond.
