CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –  The community is rallying around a Clarksville family that lost two children in a fire this week.

A GoFundMe campaign had raised $4,500 by Friday morning and a a community yard sale will be held Saturday, July 11 at Byrns Darden Elementary at 609 E Street from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The family had no insurance. 9-year-old Travis Howard Jr. and his 11-year-old sister Ann were killed in the fire on Shelby Street.
Their 14-year-old brother is still critical at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Kelly Berlin, Educational Assistant in the Comprehensive Development Classroom at Byrns Darden talked about the two youngsters. “The family has been dear to our hearts for years, i have personally worked with Travis off and on since Kindergarten. We’ve watched him grow up and this has hit us very hard.” said Berlin.

Berlin added that we know the family’s situation and we know they can’t afford very much at all and they’ve lost everything when they didn’t have much to begin with so we want to do everything we can to help them. The event is being put on by the staff at Byrns Darden along with help from other volunteers.
