CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- (CLARKSVILLENOW) The U.S. Army Parachute Team, also known as the Golden Knights, conducted tandem jumps with members of the Clarksville and Nashville community this week.
When asked about the purpose of the event Golden Knight leader Sergeant First Class Adrian Hill said, “The primary job of the army parachute team, the Golden Knights, is to connect America’s Army with America’s public and what better way to do that than take them on tandem sky dives.”
The event will continue until Thursday April 27, 2017 and will have 15 to 17 people jumping per day. Everyone who participates takes three to four hours of classes where they will learn the proper way to do a tandem jump.
Lt. Colonel Kevin Polosky, Commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion in Nashville, said they will also learn about the great opportunities offered by the Army.
People who participated thus far in the jumps include the owner of the Tennessee Titans Football team Amy Adams, APSU President Dr. Alisa White and soldiers from Fort Campbell.
Fort Campbell’s Commanding General, Andrew Poppas says, “For us this isn’t just about recruitment. The outreach to society, the pillars of the community that are here, the council members, the mayors, the owner of the Titans, they have the outreach and it’s impetrative that they continue to stay connected to the military and understand what it is.”
