FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Three community leaders and supporters of Fort Campbell have received the honor of becoming a Champion of Fort Campbell. Charlie Koon, Donald Cochran, and Sandra Cochran make up the 2019 class.
The three were recognized in an induction ceremony Wednesday, Feb. 6 at McAuliffe Hall at Fort Campbell.
“I call them the catalysts of the community. They are the pillars that have been here historically,” Commander of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Major General Andrew Poppas, said of those honored. “They embrace our mission, they are just as important as the soldiers who execute it and understand exactly what we are being asked to do and they set the conditions for our success.”
Charlie Koon is Vice President of Military and Corporate Relations for F&M Bank, Sandra Cochran is President and CEO of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc., and Don Cochran is a U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee.
“Being a champion of Fort Campbell is an incredible honor for me. When I look at the wall and the people that have been recognized with this honor, it’s overwhelming and I’m proud to be part of Fort Campbell,” Koon said.
Since 2010, 25 community leaders from Clarksville, Hopkinsville, Oak Grove, and Fort Campbell have been honored as Champions of Fort Campbell.
