CLARKSVILLE, TN – As businesses strive to attract and retain top talent, the Better Business Bureau Serving Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky is proud to announce an upcoming workshop focused on Human Resource strategies for hiring and retaining employees. This workshop will provide area businesses with valuable insights and practical tools to strengthen their workforce and drive business success. The HR workshop will be held on April 4, 2024, from 9:30am to 11:00am at the Clarksville Public Library located at 350 Pageant Lane.

The workshop will cover a range of topics essential for businesses of all sizes, including:

  • Effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Best practices for interviewing and selecting candidates who fit your company culture.
  • Strategies for employee onboarding and integration into the workplace.
  • Network with other business owners and share experiences.

The workshop features Kristie Holmes, owner of The HR Dept.  Kristie has more than 15 years of recruiting and human resource experience in a variety of industries and holds a master’s in business administration with a human resource concentration from Bethel University.

Deniece Thomas, the Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development will also be providing information on the current trends in unemployment and will discuss tools the Department of Labor and Workforce Development can provide employers. Commissioner Thomas started her career in Clarksville in 2007 working at the American Job Center. Over the years, she rose through the ranks of the Department as a Director, Assistant Administrator, Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner. Commissioner Thomas holds a Master of Arts degree in Civic Leadership from Lipscomb University in Nashville and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham.
