CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – This weekend the Ford Ice Center in Clarksville is set to host the College Hockey South playoffs from Feb. 9 through the 11th. College Hockey South is a member conference of AAU College Hockey, which brands itself as “the future of non-varsity college hockey,” according to the league’s official website.

A total of eleven postseason games will be played between two separate brackets. One bracket will be comprised of four Division 1 men’s hockey teams, while the other is made up of six women’s college hockey teams. The men’s bracket is made up of teams from the University of Alabama, University of Georgia, University of South Carolina and the University of Tampa.

The weekend will begin with qualifying games between the University of Tampa, who is the number one overall seed in the bracket, and the fourth overall seed in the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the bracket, we’ll have the number two seed, the South Carolina Gamecocks, going up against the three seed, the Georgia Bulldogs.

The winners of those games will then proceed to the championship game on Saturday, which is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. The full schedule can be found in the graphic below.

As for the women’s postseason tournament, the following teams will be playing at the Ford Ice Center: Auburn University, University of Georgia, University of Miami, University of South Carolina, University of Southern Florida and University of Tampa.

The University of Tampa will serve as the one seed in the women’s bracket while the Georgia Bulldogs will be the two seed. Each will receive a first round-bye due to their regular season performances.

During the qualifying round, the South Carolina Gamecocks will face off against Auburn University. Then, the Miami Hurricanes will be matched up against USF. Each of those games will take place on Friday.

Event details

Guest tickets start at $15, but fans will have a chance to pay for a pass to all of the games for just $20, according to a College Hockey South press release.

The Commissioner of College Hockey South, Kyle Knell, said the tournament held in Clarksville is the first of its kind. “We are looking to lay the groundwork for these new divisions in our conference,” Knell said. “The growth over the last several years has been incredible, and I have no doubt our conference and these divisions will continue to flourish in the future.”
