CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The showroom at Wyatt Johnson Mazda was packed Saturday, July 27 with hundreds of Advanced Placement students participating in the Fifth Annual Pass and Go Event.
Nathan Roy from West Creek High School was the winner of his choice of one of three 2013 vehicles from Wyatt-Johnson Automotive Group. Roy will choose from a Toyota Yaris, a Mazda 2 or a Hyundai Accent.
Students registered at the event and in the first round drew one key or a number of keys depending on the number of exams they had passed. In the first round the keys opened the door of a Mazda 2 and ten students whose key opened the door advanced to the final round.
In the final round the ten student’s names were drawn for them to choose one key from a bucket containing keys with only one key which would start the car. Roy was the last one to qualify for the final round when his key opened the door of the car and was the first one chosen and the winner of the vehicle when the key he chose started the car.
Roy talked about what it felt like to win the vehicle. “I was really not expecting to win anything at all. I was the last one to come up for the first round and I opened the door and I was the first one to come up and the car just started,” Roy said. Roy is expected to make a decision next week on which one of the three vehicles he would like to have.
Pass and Go is a reward celebration for Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Advanced Placement students. This year 376 students passed 524 exams and scored a 3, 4 or 5 to be able to win prizes and have a chance at a new car.
Premier Medical partnered with the school system and Wyatt-Johnson in Pass and Go to give away 15 laptop computers and eight ipods to students. Beach Oil also donated $25.00 gas cards and Domino’s Pizza provided food at the event and door prizes as well.
Director of Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools, Dr. B.J. Worthington commented on the Pass and Go event. We want to recognize those students for working very hard by taking Advanced Placement Classes,” Worthington said.
Wyatt-Johnson General Manager Bill Powers talked about the dealerships participation in Pass and Go. “We gave away a car for the second year. This is without a doubt the best promotion that we do. It assimilates a bunch of very bright, intelligent, motivated kids and not only did they take Advanced Placement courses but they passed them,” said Powers.
