CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System recognized businesses and community leaders at their Partners in Education Breakfast Thursday. The annual event celebrates the contributions and partnerships of the community with the school system.
There were two Rising Star Awards which go to first year partners that have gone above and beyond involvement with their partner school. One went to Texas Roadhouse for their work with East Montgomery Elementary and the other went to Chick-fil-A on Madison Street for their support of Sango Elementary.
There were also two Boots on the Ground Awards given out which has ties to a military unit and their volunteer efforts involving a school. The first went to 101st STB Troop for their support of Northeast Elementary and D Co. 2-44th Air Defense Artillery for their work with Woodlawn Elementary.
The Innovative Partner Award is given to a long-time partner who finds new and innovative ways to support their school. Clarksville Fencing was given the award for their work with Moore Magnet Elementary.
The Corporate Partner Award goes to a long-time partner for outstanding and consistent service for multiple years. That honor was presented to Grace Church of the Nazarene for their support of Northeast High.
The Community Commitment Award recognizes a partner who meets immediate financial needs of their partner school. Kroger received the award for their help with Norman Smith Elementary.
The STEM Partner of the Year Award is given for contributions to STEM programs. CDE Lightband was recognized for their work with Kenwood High.
and the Sarah Ditmore Cooper Outstanding Partner Award is named after a former English teacher at Clarksville High and district-wide Teacher of the Year who started the Partners in Schools program over 30 years ago. That honor was given to Domino’s Pizza, Antonio Murgas for supporting Northeast, Byrns Darden, and Glenellen Elementary Schools.
