CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Over 2,000 freshmen students from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System filled the Dunn Center at Austin Peay State University Thursday, September 26 to get motivated for graduation in 2017. Guest speaker was Kantis Simmons, a former research scientist who now serves as a student academic success expert.
All seven high schools, Clarksville, Kenwood, Montgomery Central, Northeast, Northwest, Rossview and West Creek were represented at the event.
It was the 2nd annual Get Motivated assembly held by the school system challenging freshmen to work to graduate high school and pursue higher education.
The “Get Motivated” session was held in part to help ease the transition from middle school to high school. Students were also encouraged to make the right choices, not fall victim to peer pressure and they were also inspired to set academic goals, study and stay focused.
Following the motivational assembly with students, another session was held for parents of freshmen students at the William O. Beach Civic Hall. Simmons spoke to the parents about helping their students be more successful by giving them the tools and resources to make it easier for them to cope with the high school experience.
The 2nd Annual Get Motivated…2017 was presented by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation, 100% Graduation committee.
