CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man has been arrested after falsely claiming he was robbed by someone in a clown costume.
Police responded to a robbery call Oct. 27 around 3:45 p.m. at the 2300 block of Madison Street. The supposed victim, 25-year-old Alexander Raygoza, said he was parked in a business parking lot when a man in a clown mask with green hair, with a ski mask underneath, opened the passenger side door of his vehicle and sat down inside.
He told police the clown had a knife with a wooden handle and asked him for anything of value. Raygoyza said he handed the ‘clown’ some non-working credit cards, a cell phone, and $80 in cash. He told police the clown then got out of the car, took off the clown mask, and walked away.
The victim provided very descriptive information about the clown, but when an officer started asking more detailed questions the story quickly unraveled. Police determined a robbery had not occurred and the phone and money were taken by someone else.
Raygoza was charged with false report and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. His bond was set at $10,000.
