Clay Black, age 74, of Palmyra, TN, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Grace Healthcare.

Clay was born June 7, 1941, in Clarksville, TN, to the late Huey Black and Ella Powers Black. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Black worked for the Civil Service and was a member or First Canaan Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be held Friday, April 1, at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Pastor Jessie Tharpe officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, and Friday, April 1, from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service, at the funeral home.

Clay is survived by his wife of 39 years, Frances Stewart Black; two daughters, Mary Hightower (Bobby Hansen) and Martha (Denzil) P’Pool; added daughter, Nicki Binkley; chosen daughter, Debra Baggett; added son, Tommy Boman; chosen son, Dale Baggett; two sisters, Hazel (Junior) Johnson and Elnora (Danny) Long; sister-in-law, Judy Black; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jadie Binkley, Daniel Hightower, James P’Pool, Denzil P’Pool, Bobby Hansen, and Dale Baggett. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Marino, Leroy Pedder, and Jim Cunningham.
