19th Century Christmas
Clarksville Parks and Recreation is hosting its 19th Century Christmas event this weekend at Fort Defiance. The event will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 from 3-5 p.m. at 120 Duncan Street.
Visitors will be able to step back in time and see period decorations, visit with a 19th-century Santa, and enjoy eggnog, cakes, and caroling. Cost is $3 per person. Pre-registration is required and available online.
Precious Friends Pet Rescue Yard Sale
Precious Friends Puppy Rescue and the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery Co. are joining forces to prepare a giant indoor Yard Sale at a building recently donated by Singletary Construction at 20 Barker St.
Funds are being raised for building renovations at the new location, which will serve as the future home of Precious Friends Puppy Rescue, a non-profit organization that has been rescuing puppies in the Clarksville community since 1992. The sale will be held Friday & Saturday, December 14 & 15, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m., and Sunday December 16 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Barker Street location.
Candlelight Christmas Tours at Historic Collinsville
Historic Collinsville will host Candlelight Christmas tours for the first time in 15 years on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15. During the two evenings, from 4-8 p.m., guides will take guests on tours of the pioneer settlement. Each home and structure will be donned with holiday décor appropriate for the 1830s – 1870s era. Guests will also enjoy music and a fireside Christmas story. Additionally, refreshments and vendors will be onsite.
Historic Collinsville is located at 4711 Weakley Road in Southside, Tennessee. It is 15 miles from downtown Clarksville and 28 miles from downtown Dickson. Tickets are available at the Visit Clarksville website, and are $12 for ages 12 and up; $9 for ages 6-11. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free. Tours begin every 15 minutes. Please order tickets based on your preferred starting times. Guests are encouraged to bring a flashlight.
Christmas on the Cumberland
Christmas on the Cumberland, Clarksville’s popular lighted walk-through event, will be open nightly from 5-10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5-11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays through Jan. 1, 2019. Admission is free.
Family-friendly activities will take place from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15. This year’s free activities include holiday crafts and performances by local school and church choirs and dance groups. Find more info on the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
Loaves & Fishes Jingle Bell Food Drive
The Loaves & Fishes “Jingle Bell Food Drive” will host the last event of the season at food stores in Clarksville-Montgomery County this weekend.
On Saturday, December 15, Loaves & Fishes will be at Walmart in St. Bethlehem (Wilma Rudolph Blvd.) and Walmart on Fort Campbell Blvd. from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. As you shop for your groceries this holiday season don’t forget to remember those who are hungry and homeless in our community.
