Ice skating in Clarksville and Hopkinsville
During most of the year, the Downtown Commons is a large open lawn, but in late fall through early winter it is transformed into an ice rink.
Downtown Commons Winter Ice Rink is scheduled to run November 23 through January 21. Operating hours will be Thursdays and Fridays 5 to 10 p.m.; Saturdays 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 2 to 10 p.m. The hours will be extended during school breaks and on holidays. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children under 12 with discounts for military and APSU students. Private party rentals are also available.
This weekend only, there will also be ice skating in Hopkinsville. The 2,500-square foot rink, which measures approximately 60 feet long, will be positioned within the Founders Square parking lot and accommodate 80 skaters during a single session. Skatin’ on the Square will be set up from Dec. 7-9, giving individuals and groups ample chances to hit the ice during 16 different 90-minute sessions.
Family Day at Customs House Museum
Saturday, Dec. 8 is free admission day at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center.
Located in downtown Clarksville, the Customs House Museum is the state’s second largest general museum, featuring over 35,000 square feet of exhibit space, hands-on activities and special events.
Free admission day occurs on the second Saturday of every month.
Christmas on the Cumberland
Christmas on the Cumberland, Clarksville’s popular lighted walk-through event, will be open nightly from 5-10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5-11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays through Jan. 1, 2019. Admission is free.
Family-friendly activities will take place from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 and 15. This year’s free activities include holiday crafts and performances by local school and church choirs and dance groups. Find more info on the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
