CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville’s Young Professionals (CYP) met Wednesday, June 4 with city councilman Bill Summers as guest speaker talking to the group about effective leadership traits and practices.

CYP formed in 2008 and is a committee of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce. The organization works to move the community forward through community service and professional development for its members and welcomes community and business leaders ages 21-45.

Summers talked about the young people involved with the organization. “As the name denotes for them they are our future leaders. Our community is growing so the opportunity for new business, for them to take over businesses and to imagine things that are not in our community, now’s the time to start thinking about that,” Summers said.

Wednesday was the last meeting for Brandi Bryant as President of the group but Bryant said she would still be a member of the CYP organization and her time spent as President over the last two years was very rewarding.

“I’m so proud of the reach that we’ve had and the diversity, the different generations we do have here and how plugged in and how well received we’ve been and also how much we have grown,” said Bryant.

Kim Miller is taking over as the new President and said she is ecstatic about leading the organization. “I’m very excited about our future and where we’re going. We’re changing things up this year and really focusing on community involvement,” Miller said.

The July 8 meeting of CYP will feature the candidates for Montgomery County Mayor in the August 7 election and the organization plans on a political meet and greet in late September for all of the candidates who were elected in August.
