CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville woman was sentenced to eight years Tuesday in Cheatham County Circuit Court for a DUI crash that killed a man in 2014.

The Tennessean reports that Larson Dean Gafney, 44, entered a no contest plea to vehicular homicide.

Gafney was charged with DUI in 2014 after a crash that killed her passenger, 40-year-old Kenneth Murray, while she was driving under the influence at a high rate of speed near Pleasant View.

Gafney’s sentence will be suspended after serving one year in the Cheatham County Jail.

In December of last year, Gafney was arrested again for DUI while out on bond. According to a Clarksville police report, Gafney struck a fire hydrant with her car Dec. 17 around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Golf Club Lane and Liberty Parkway.

Gafney will report to jail August 21.
