CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The McGregor Park Riverwalk was the place and the fight to end Alzheimer’s was the reason for the Clarksville “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”, Saturday, October 5. Close to 350 people of all ages signed up to participate in the one mile walk along the Cumberland River.
Andrew Jackson with the Alzheimer’s Association talked about the success of the walk in Clarksville-Montgomery County which raised around $35,000. “It’s been fantastic, I think each year we grow in certain ways and I think today was just a fantastic representation of that,” said Jackson.
Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disease and the most common form of dementia. It destroys brain cells and once it starts it gets worse over time and affects all aspects of a person’s life both mentally and physically.
The “Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nations largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
