CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville will host its second Pit Bull Awareness Day between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 2.

The event, sponsored by local Pit Bull lovers, will take place in the Rural King parking lot located at 1141 Fort Campbell Boulevard.

The purpose of the event is to bring awareness about the misconception of Bully Breeds, to raise funds specifically to provide free or greatly reduced cost spay and neuter surgeries for owners, and to reduce euthanasia and increase adoptions of Pit Bulls in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.

Pit Bull adoptions will be available through Montgomery County’s Animal Control Services mobile van operation.
Information on how to get involved will be available from other animal care groups, professionals and volunteer organizations from around the area.

There will be a “Dress Your Bully” contest with categories including “friendliest,” “best in show,” “party animal,” “best kisser,” etc., with a grand prize of having the winning dog featured on an educational billboard in the area. The “Bully Walk” around the parking lot will allow owners to show off their dogs. Judges will be on site to select winners.

Professional photography will be available from Tina Hartman of Picture Your Photo and Jordan Larissa Williams. The “Kiss-a-Bull” kissing booth will allow attendees to donate $1 and receive a kiss from one of the bullies. “Pittie Paw Prints” will also be present to stamp pet prints as a keepsake.

Live Music from Backroad Brigade will start at 3 p.m., and food and drinks will also be available for purchase.
