SPRINGFIELD, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville High Wildcats and Rossview Hawks met at Springfield High School for the District 13-4A Girls’ Basketball Tournament Championship on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The two teams split the regular season series, but CHS got the win in round three 48-44, using a late fourth quarter comeback to earn their fourth consecutive district title.

Early on, both teams were defensively dominant, providing no easy buckets for their opponent. Senior guard Imani Evans carried most of the scoring load for the Hawks, having 12 of their 19 first-half points, as Rossview led 19-18 at the halftime break. However, the Hawks took the third quarter by storm, taking a seven-point lead heading into the final quarter.

“We had to weather some storms,” said Wildcats head coach Brian Rush. “We got in foul trouble early, made a few little mistakes, and had to recover. Rossview did a great job in the third quarter especially, and we had to adjust.”

The Hawks carried that lead until halfway through the final quarter of play before Wildcats guard Shakiah Vance started to heat up from range, leading all scorers with 21 points on the night. The lead Rossview built vanished quickly, and Clarksville made their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Despite the loss, Rossview still has a mindset to make a run this postseason.

“I’m proud of our girls,” said Hawks head coach Clay Head. “Our effort level was great, and they fought. You could tell they were hurting in the locker room, but I think tonight motivates us even more. We have to move past it, but it’s a quick turnaround. There’s no tomorrow if we lose going forward.”

As for Clarksville High, they earn a No. 1 seed in the Region 7-4A tournament and claim their fourth straight district title. The class of 2025 has now won a district championship in all four years they’ve played. Rush celebrated the win but knows there’s work to be done.

“This group has worked hard, they play so well together, and they believe in each other,” said Rush. “It’s amazing to watch the trust this team has in each other, and it makes this team fun. This group loves each other, and they’ve shown it’s important to them that they get to play together as long as possible.”
