CLARKSVILLE, Tenn – Clarksville Summit will conduct a community “Candid Conversations” meeting, which will be live streamed via the group’s Facebook page on July 23, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.
Topics of discussion for the event have been collected from members of the Clarksville Community and include such issues as needs within the school district, hiring and promotion practices and local leadership.
Event coordinator Yolonda Williams called the forum a necessary next step to bridge an understanding between concerned residents and police.
“While there are many excellent police officers in Clarksville, there are local residents who are fearful of police due to violent encounters in other communities,” Williams said.
The current conversation was sparked by the “Breathe Clarksville” event held at Veterans Plaza on June 5, 2020. The event seeks to open lines of communication between community leaders, residents, and law enforcement to prevent local conflicts before they occur.
“To truly be the best place to live in America, we should lead the way in community and police relations,” Williams said.
Tune in to the event via Clarksville Summit’s Facebook page.
