CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- There are a wide variety of summer camps available for children and teens in and near the Clarksville area.
Summer Youth Program
The Summer Youth Program is a fun and rewarding summer camp experience offered for children 6-15. Price: Free program
Dates and Time: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 3-July 12.
Fifteen locations around Clarksville are used, including school gymnasiums, City recreation centers, and Housing Authority sites. Please note that each site is designated for a specific age group. Daily activities at each site are age specific and include games and sports, arts and crafts, visits to City pools, and other enrichment activities. Pre-registration is required.
Civil War Day Camp
Youths 10-13 are invited to learn about the Civil War period in Middle Tennessee from historical interpreters at Fort Defiance. Activities will include making hardtack, practicing soldiering drills, exploring local history and learning Civil War era games and dances.
Date and Time: 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday-Friday, June 12-14 at Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, 120 Duncan Street.
The fee is $30. Pre-registration is required.
Summer Tennis Instruction
Youths 6-15 can learn the basics of tennis with these tennis lessons at Swan Lake Tennis Complex, 2002 Sanders Road, June 3 to July 11. The fee is $50. Pre-registration is required.
Ages 6-8: Mondays and Wednesdays, 8-9 a.m.
Ages 9-10: Mondays and Wednesdays, 9-10 a.m.
Ages 11-12: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-9:30 a.m.
Ages 13-15: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30-11 a.m.
Summer Playhouse
The Roxy Regional Theatre hosts a fun six-week theater workshop sponsored by the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department from 12:30 to 2 p.m. (youths 9-12) and 2-3:30 p.m. (youths 13-18), Monday-Thursday, June 3 to July 11 at the Roxy Theatre. Youth will learn basic acting techniques, improvisational skills and stage movement, culminating in a free performance for family and friends. The fee is $50. Pre-registration is required.
Summer Tumbling Day Camp
Campers 10-15 can learn to roll, flip and turn from 9-11:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday, June 17-20, July 8-11, or July 15-18 at American Twisters Tumbling, 438 Kelly Lane. The fee is $40. Pre-registration is required.
Summer Archery Camp
Youths 10-15 can learn the basic fundamentals of archery from 9 to 11 a.m. (beginner) or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (advanced) June 24-28 at Billy Dunlop Park, 1930 E Boyscout Road. Participants will practice shooting techniques and learn safety rules and different bow types. The fee is $20. Pre-registration is required.
Seal Team Scuba Camp
Parks & Recreation has partnered with Waterdogs Scuba to offer a new camp designed for young divers. Youths 8-12 will learn the basics of diving and scuba skills while completing action-packed Aqua Missions. Camp is from 12-4 p.m. at Bel-Aire Pool, 124 Marie Drive. Choose from the following sessions: June 11-13, June 25-27, July 16-18, or July 23-25. The fee is $299. Pre-registration is required.
Govs Outdoors teen adventure camp
Govs Outdoors Teen Camp is open to ages 12-15 and focuses on getting teens outdoors and into activities such as hiking, biking, rock climbing and caving, all offered in the Clarksville area.
Price: $220 each week for members of the Foy Center and $235 for nonmembers.
Camp space is limited to 12 campers each week.
Dates and Time: Monday-Friday camps run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., June 3-28.

Jr. Govs Summer Camp
This recreational based day camp is a comprehensive program which promotes healthy lifestyles among children, ages 5 to 12, so they will continue to stay active. The children spend 8 action-packed weeks filled with sports activities, games, arts and crafts, and swimming. The camp is hosted at the Foy Fitness and Recreation at Austin Peay State University. Camp programming runs from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with early drop off starting at 7 a.m. and late pick up running through 5:30 p.m.
Prices are weekly, per child, and include an afternoon snack Monday through Friday, a camper t-shirt and any field trip(s). Camp capacity is set at 74 campers per week.
Camp begins June 3 and ends August 2. Camp will be closed the week of 4th of July.
Spaces per age group are limited:
5 year olds – 8 max.
6-7 year olds – 20 max.
8-9 year olds – 23 max.
10-12 year olds – 23 max
Lunch will not be provided for campers; Campers are asked to bring their own lunch. An afternoon snack will be provided.
Financial Education Camp
Dates: June 5 and 6
Price: Free
Cash Camp is a two day financial education camp open to youth ages 8-10. This camp will help educate children on key financial concepts by incorporating hands-on learning experiences with activities, discussions, and other learning opportunities.
This camp will run from 8:00 am-12:00 pm and both days must be attended for completion.
Money Smart Camp is a two day financial education camp open to youth ages 11-12. This camp will cover topics from money basics to needs v. wants and basic money-growth strategies. This camp will run from 1:00 pm 5:00 pm and both days must be attended for completion.
Altra membership is not required to attend either camp, but registration is necessary to savae your seat. Both sessions are limited to 20 students.
Austin Peay Sports Camps and Clinics
Austin Peay State University athletic coaches will be offering camps and clinics throughout the summer. Sports included are as following: baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, football, women’s soccer, volleyball, softball, and dance.
