CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A 21-year-old man who was the suspect in a recent shooting in Clarksville has been taken into custody after crashing a vehicle in an attempt to flee from police.
The suspect, Eric Tyreese Davis, was wanted for allegedly shooting a 67-year-old man in the foot during an argument.
A Clarksville police officer clocked a black BMW driving 70 mph in a 50 mph zone Friday just before noon on Warfield Blvd. He tried to pull the car over, but the driver made a quick turn onto Mason Way and sped up.
After accelerating the driver, identified as Davis, lost control of the car, hit a tree, and flipped the vehicle. He then crawled out and fled on foot.
Davis was found by police on the front porch of a home on Mason Court. He was taken to Tennova hospital for medical clearance due to a laceration on his face.
After clearance he will be transported to the Montgomery County Jail and charged with aggravated assault, speeding, evading arrest, no insurance, driving on revoked license, simple possession (cocaine), failure to use due care, and leaving the scene of an accident. His bond has not yet been determined.
