CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Salvation Army of Clarksville is holding an open house Thursday, June 20 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the shelter, 210 Kraft Street.

Captain Jonathan Whitaker with the Salvation Army talked about the open house “We want people to come in and look, we want people to come in and see what we’re doing. I think people have an idea of what we do here as far as sheltering but I don’t think people realize the scale or how much that we do. We need to kind of reintroduce ourselves to the public,” said Whitaker.

Whitaker added that he wanted to let everyone know that they can’t do what they do without the support of the community and they are hoping to get more people interested and involved in helping out with the Salvation Army’s work in Clarksville.

The Salvation Army shelter houses both men and women and they also have facilities for families. They can house up to 70 people or even more during cold weather in winter along with serving food and providing clothing along with many other services for those in need.

Whitaker said they are excited about the open house which will offer finger foods as well as tours of the shelter. For more details call 931-552-5350.
