CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Rotary Club welcomed Vickie Koelman, Administrator of Elections for the Montgomery County Election Commission as their guest speaker Wednesday, September 17. Koelman talked about her work with the commission and updated members of Rotary about the upcoming November election.
Voter registration was one topic that Koelman emphasized and said the Election Commission works with local high schools, private schools and Austin Peay State University to share information about voting with young people. They also attend many other city and county events to promote voter registration in the community.
Koelman also talked about laws and requirements for voting, absentee and early voting, location of the polls and the many other aspects involved with an election that her office handles. Koelman also added that as of June 1 of this year there were 99,405 registered voters in Montgomery County with 74,353 living inside the city limits.
The Tennessee General and City of Clarksville Election is Tuesday, November 4 with the polls open at 29 locations across Montgomery County from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. The deadline to get signed up to vote in the November 4 election is Monday, October 6. Early voting runs October 15-30 the Election Commission office.
Voters go to the polls to decide Tennessee races for Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and Tennessee House of Representatives, Districts 67, 68 & 74. There are also four constitutional amendments on the ballot. Local races in Clarksville are for City Mayor and City Council, Wards 1,2,6,7,10 & 11. City voters will also vote on a referendum on wine sales at retail food stores.
