CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville Roller Derby’s Red River Sirens will host Little City Roller Girls of Johnson City Saturday, July 19 at Magic Wheels Skate Center.
The theme for the bout is “Stars and Stripes.” Doors open 6 p.m. and the whistle blows at 7 p.m.
Team members Ava Cordy aka “Flava Ave” and Megan “Heartless” Martis were guests Friday on “Tiffany and Tyler in the Morning,” on Z97.5. The two explained the high-speed sport including jams, legal and illegal hits. “Anything from the shoulder to the hip is legal,” said Heartless, adding that players expect to end up on the floor if it’s done right.

“No elbows or hits to the head,” Cordy said, “but legal hits provide plenty of action.” Those hits have names like ‘Hip checks’, ‘Can Openers’, and ‘Shoulder to the Sternum’.
The team, founded in 2010, supports charities with proceeds from their bouts. This time around, funds will go to The Station Foundation which supports Special Operations Families with enrichment and development programs.
