CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- The student-led Clarksville robotics team spent their Fall Break preparing for an upcoming competition on October 31.

The competition will be at David Lipscomb University, and the team will be competing against 15 other schools. The situation for the competition is a mine field that is too dangerous to send people, so the robot must collect all of the items. From start to finish the team only has six weeks to build and program the robot along with creating a marketing plan.

Christy Anderson, the lead mentor says, “This is total student built and student run.”

The robotics team is made up of about 30 students this year with seven adult mentors. The students are given leadership positions within the team to complete different tasks. Every student is tasked with a part of either building, recording, or marketing the project.

When asked why he spent his Fall Break working on this project student president Zach Elson says, “We are here to have fun building robots.”
