CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Santa Claus made time in is busy schedule of mall visits and toy production for his annual safety inspection of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Airport. Mr. Claus is always prepared ahead of the big night.

Since the Airport first opened in 1937, Santa has used Outlaw Field as an emergency landing sight and a rest area for his reindeer while traveling through middle Tennessee.

“We love what we do,” said Josh Vaughn business development manager. “Providing a place for Santa and his reindeer to catch their breath on Christmas Eve is a real highlight of the year.”

Each year in early December, Santa makes his rounds inspecting emergency landing sights and saying hello to airport staff. Late last year the Airport upgraded to new LED landing lights on Runway 17/35 which Santa really appreciated.

As a side hobby Santa enjoys helicopters and had fun exploring Austin Peay State University’s new helicopters.

“They’re about as close to a sleigh with eight tiny reindeer as you can get!” Santa chuckled.

He was especially fond of the new red Robinson R44, plenty of space for presents.

“I was excited to meet Santa and coordinate our ground efforts to ensure Christmas eve runs as smooth as possible,” said Cory Bondurant airport line supervisor.

“Last year the Reindeer really loved the Eggnog. I have a few buckets ready for them,” said Kyle Clements airport line operator.

This Christmas Eve keep your eyes to the sky and if you happen to be in north Clarksville at the right time you may just see a sleigh and eight tiny reindeer on final approach to the Clarksville Airport.
