CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Association of Realtors’ Young Professionals Network, or CAR YPN, raised over $107,000 at the fifth annual Handbags for Hope at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on Saturday, August 4. Proceeds from this event benefited Urban Ministry’s SafeHouse for Women and the CAR YPN Mike Groves Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Over the past five years, the Handbags for Hope has raised around $333,000.

This year’s Handbags for Hope, which was open to the public, sold 400 tickets, and featured almost 300 handbags on offer via silent and live auctions.

“There’s no greater love than when people serve others,” said Charles Pecka, the 2018 CAR President. “This money will go towards helping the most vulnerable in our community, and help some very deserving students achieve their future goals.”

Urban Ministry’s SafeHouse for Women is fully staffed 24 hours, and provides safety and comfort to local women and children in need.

The CAR YPN Mike Groves Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the legacy of Mike Groves, a member of the Clarksville Association of REALTORS from 1991 until his passing in 2015.
