CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The National Weather Service says a strong arctic cold front will move through the area late Tuesday night.

The mercury will fall into the teens by early Wednesday morning, with wind chill values ranging from -1 degrees north to 13 degrees south. Temperatures will warm little during the day with highs on Wednesday in the 20s.

Northwest winds of around 10 mph will create afternoon wind chill readings in the single digits, making it feel even colder.

The coldest temperatures of the winter season will occur Wednesday night as lows will range from 4 to 9 degrees. Wednesday night wind chill values will generally be in the single digits.

Some flurries are possible around 10 p.m. with a chance of snow showers between midnight and 4 a.m. Thursday.

This frigid weather will begin to warm up by Thursday afternoon as more tolerable temperatures in the 30s and lower 40s return.

Anyone planning to be outdoors in these conditions should dress in layers and cover all exposed skin.

Consider covering any non frost proof outdoor faucets and leave a slow drip to prevent pipes from freezing.
