CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Union was at the Sango Wal-Mart Saturday, September 14 helping under-privileged children with their Clothe a Child program. The officers shopped with parents and close to 50 youngsters who were allowed to spend $100 each on back to school clothing at the store.
Detective Tyler Barrett with the police union said the children were chosen from elementary schools in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. “There’s so much need in the community and a lot of families in need and we went to 10 schools this year to nominate 5 students that they felt were in most need of some help,” said Barrett.
Barrett added that the event is a blessing for the officers and the kids and the police union appreciated all of the support from donations from the community which helped to make the Clothe a Child happen. The Clarksville Police Union local 18 will also team up with the Fraternal Order of Police for the Shop with a Cop which will be held in December.
