CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A suspect was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 22 around 10:41 a.m. following an attempted robbery at US Bank located at 3301 Fort Campbell Blvd. in Clarksville.
Clarksville police said an armed man with his face partially covered walked into the bank and gave the teller a note demanding money. The suspect had a gun at his side but did not point it at the teller. For an unknown reason, he then left the bank before he got any money.
An alert citizen saw the suspect leaving the bank in a mask and told a nearby Oak Grove officer, who then followed him. The suspect drove a white Crown Victoria to the Circle K gas station at 601 Tiny Town Rd. The officer watched the man at the pump until Clarksville police arrived and took him into custody without incident.
Police said the suspect’s gun and additional items were seized from the vehicle.

The suspect was identified Thursday as 25-year-old Muhammad Talik Shahid of Clarksville. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with criminal attempted aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $150,000.
Police said he does not have any local criminal history.
Clarksville Police Department spokesman Jim Knoll said the department is coordinating with the F.B.I on the investigation, therefore no additional details will be released at this time.
