CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tish’s husband, John, 51, had become dizzy and fallen. She called 911. When Clarksville Police Sgt. Tim Finley responded on Sept. 11 at about 7:46 a.m., he found the man unresponsive without a pulse.
Finley immediately activated his AED device and began CPR chest compressions. He determined the man was suffering from a cardiac incident and a “shockable” heart arrhythmia. After initiating the shock from the AED, he was able to detect a faint pulse.
Montgomery County EMS personnel arrived shortly after and transported the man to Tennova Healthcare. He was conscious and alert upon arriving at the hospital and survived the cardiac incident.
On Nov. 13, the Clarksville Police Department presented its Lifesaver Award to Finley for his actions that ultimately saved the man’s life.
“Sgt. Finley’s actions bring great credit to himself, the Clarksville Police Department, and to the citizens of Clarksville,” Clarksville Police said in a news release.
The couple were in attendance at the award ceremony as Chief David Crockarell presented Finley with the award.
