UPDATE: An inmate who escaped the Christian County Jail under an assumed name two weeks ago has been captured in upstate New York. Luis Raul Dechaudens Espinal, who told jail officials his name was Jose Feleciano is wanted by Clarksville Police for Statutory Rape, Theft, and Burglary. Now he has the escape charge to deal with. Dechaudens was captured in Syracuse, New York and was identified through the National Crime Information Center.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) is currently searching for Luis Raul Dechoudens Espinal, who reportedly escaped from the Christian County Jail early Wednesday, July 17.
CPD declined to comment on whether the man was being held in the jail under the alias ‘Jose Feliciano’, a singer famous for the song ‘Feliz Navidad.’ CPD said they are assisting the Christian County authorties as requested. An inmate report from the Christian County Jail stated he was charged with fleeing police, assault on a service animal, receiving stolen property, and giving an officer a false name.
Dechoudens Espinal has a history with CPD and has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail on three different occasions.
He is currently wanted for charges of statutory rape, theft, evading arrest, and aggravated burglary. Anyone who sees Dechoudens Espinal is asked to call 911 immediately. Anyone with additional information can call Crime Stoppers at 931-648-TIPS (8477).
