Update, Feb. 7: Clarksville Police and MCSO have identified and charged a suspect. The Clarksville man was charged on Feb. 6 with six counts of vandalism: two within the county and four within the city.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Several churches in east Clarksville have been vandalized over the last few days.

The Clarksville Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are investigating multiple incidents reported at churches of different denominations in the Memorial Extension, Sango Road and Highway 76 areas, according to a news release from CPD spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien. The churches have reported damage, including broken windows on buildings and vehicles.

“At this time, investigators do not believe these incidents to be hate crimes,” Beaubien said. “The total estimated damage is approximately $9,000.”

Surveillance footage captured the suspect driving a white, four-door vehicle, believed to be a Kia Forte, with a malfunctioning driver-side brake light. If you recognize the vehicle or have any information, please call 911.
