CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Detective Nick Newman with the Clarksville Police Department (CPD) is investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred on Dec. 5 sometime between 10:15 p.m. and 10:37 p.m.
The victim said two suspects asked him to take them to the store to get a cigar, according to a news release. The victim picked the suspects up on Poston St. and took them to a store on Kraft St. where the suspects then asked the victim to take them to a friend’s house.
The suspects instructed the victim to turn left off Kraft St. onto Parham Dr. Soon after the victim turned, the suspects told him to stop the vehicle. Suspect 1 was sitting behind the victim in the back seat and put a handgun to the right side of his head. The victim grabbed the gun and pushed it towards Suspect 2, who was sitting in the front passenger side seat. Suspect 2 punched the victim in the right side of his face. The victim asked the suspects what they wanted, and they told him to get out of the car. The victim jumped out of the car and ran through the Lincoln Homes area to his house and called 911.
The vehicle was found unoccupied on Parham Dr. at 10:46 p.m. by police. The vehicle had a manual transmission and it is likely that the suspects did not know how to operate it.
The victim described Suspect 1as a light skinned black male wearing a gray beanie hat. Suspect 2 was described as a medium skinned black male wearing a white t-shirt and a jacket. The victim said the gun felt like a semi-automatic handgun.
Later, the victim was informed by someone in the Lincoln Homes area that one of the suspects could be a female posing as a male, but that information has not been confirmed.
