CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Police Department conducted a training scenario exercise Friday. The Tact Team and police negotiators were at the old Jenkins & Wynne Ford building on College Street.

Cpt. Craig Gipson with Clarksville Police talked about the training exercise. “It’s a yearly training event where SWAT and negotiators come together. You train for the worst case scenario, so we’ve got a scenario set up inside here,” said Gipson.

Cpt. Gipson added that neither SWAT or the negotiators know exactly what the scenario is, so it’s a surprise to them. They’ve got to handle a variety of situations from injured people, to an active shooter, to barricaded subjects, it’s all incorporated in one scenario.

Because of the tactical training going on inside the building, Clarksvillenow.com was not allowed to take photographs.
