CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The citizens of Clarksville opened their hearts and wallets in support of Special Olympics of Tennessee for the Tip a Cop fundraiser.
This week, Texas Roadhouse hosted a statewide Tip A Cop event at all of their 16 locations to support Tennessee Special Olympics.
Officers with the Clarksville Police Department (CPD) were on hand to help the amazing Clarksville Roadhouse staff provide service to their customers to benefit Special Olympics.
“The house was packed, but the Texas Roadhouse staff made it look easy as they scurried around the room helping customers, despite having to dodge the officers, who at times, became more hindrance than help by blocking the aisles,” CPD spokesman Jim Knoll said. “But, the staff took it in stride and kept smiles on their faces and joked with customers and officers.”
The customers, some that specifically came in for the Tip A Cop event, and others that had no clue of why officers were on site, reached deep into their pockets and donated generously. They donated almost $1,600 between 5 and 8 p.m.
In addition, Texas roadhouse donated 10 percent of their sales to Special Olympics.
“The Clarksville Police Department would like to thank Special Olympics and Texas Roadhouse for inviting them to be part of the Tip A Cop event,” Knoll said. “The Clarksville Police Department is very fortunate to be part of a community that is very supportive of law enforcement and consistently takes time out of their busy lives to be part of events we’re involved in.”
