Clarksville, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- The Clarksville Police Department sent out a public notice announcing they will have a virtual on-site reaccreditation.
“In a continuing quest toward law enforcement excellence, the Clarksville Police Department is scheduled for a virtual on-site reaccreditation assessment during the week of May 4th, 2020 to verify that the department meets the state-of –the art professional standards.
The assessment is part of a voluntary program administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).
The accreditation program requires agencies to comply in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
Because of the current public health risk there will be no public information session.
However, it is encouraged for the public to call in on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 and offer comments by calling (931) 614-5629 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.
Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at 135 Commerce Street in the Chief of Police’s Office. Local contact is Sergeant Charles Gill at 931 648-0656 ext. 5232.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Clarksville Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320 Gainesville, Virginia 20155.”
