CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Police Department held a retirement ceremony today at the Freedom Point Event Center at Liberty Park for Lt. Vince Lewis, Agent Dave McClintock, Officer Bill Van Beber III, and Officer Erett Oden. Mayor Joe Pitts and Chief of Police David Crockarell recognized the exemplary careers of these four officers who have dedicated much of their lives to the safety and well-being of the citizens of Clarksville.

Cumulatively, there are over 104 years of police experience between Lt. Lewis, Agent McClintock, Officer Van Beber, and Officer Oden. They will be missed, and the Clarksville Police Department wants to say, “Thank You for your service!”

Lt. Vince Lewis has been with the Clarksville Police Department for 33 years. He joined CPD in January of 1991 and has held several different positions within the department. From Patrol Officer to Street Crimes Gang Officer, Agent, Detective, and Public Information Officer until his promotion to Sergeant in May 2006. He served as a patrol supervisor until February 2015, when he transferred to the Special Operations Homicide Unit as the supervisor of the unit. In December 2015, Sgt. Lewis was promoted to Lieutenant and became the Traffic Unit Supervisor where he has served until his retirement which is effective today, June 14, 2024.

Agent Fredrick “Dave” McClintock was hired in June 1998 and has held several positions within the department. Starting his career as a Patrol Officer and then being promoted to Agent with the Special Operations Unit, he was a member of the Crime Scene Unit and Honor Guard before becoming a Task Force Officer with the DEA for four years. He then transitioned back to the Special Operations Homicide Unit as an investigator, was a District 3 Detective, and then returned to Special Operations as an Agent where he will finish out his career. Agent McClintock has served for 26 years, and his official retirement date is June 28, 2024.

Officer Bill Van Beber III was hired in June 1998 and has served the majority of his career with CPD’s Traffic Unit. He was a Fatal Crash Investigator (FACT) for over 13 of his 26 years of service to the department. Officer Van Beber has mentored numerous traffic officers throughout his career, passing along a wealth of knowledge for crash investigations and crash reconstruction. Officer Van Bebers’ official retirement date is June 27, 2024.

Officer Erett Oden was hired in May 2005 and served as a Patrol Officer and then was selected in January 2008 to be part of CPD’s Training Division. Officer Odens’ military background and experiences proved to be invaluable, and he served as the department’s Range Master, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Use of Force Manager, and Senior Firearms Instructor. Officer Odens’ was highly respected within the department as well as by numerous law enforcement agencies for his professionalism and expertise, his official retirement date is June 18, 2024, with 19 years of service.
