CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man driving on a revoked license who was involved in a traffic crash was taken into custody by Clarksville police after a lengthy foot chase.

Officers responded to a crash Tuesday around 7:40 a.m. in the area of Highway 12/Elk Drive. Police said that a man identified as Leonard Green was driving a Mazda south on Highway 12 and could not stop in time to avoid a crash when he came upon a line of stopped traffic.

According to police, Green crashed into the back of a Ford driven by a woman in her 30s. He fled from the scene on foot.

Witnesses on scene gave officers a description of Green and told them which way he went. Officers chased the suspect on foot and took him into custody in a creek bed near East Old Ashland City Road after chasing him for approximately a mile.

The female driver of the Ford suffered some discomfort at the scene but was not taken to the hospital.

Leonard Green, 28, was taken to the Montgomery County Jail after being medically cleared. He was charged with driver to exercise due care, driving on a revoked license, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident with damage, and no proof of insurance. His bond was set at $5,000.
