CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man was arrested late Sunday, March 29, after a police officer caught him in the act of burglarizing a vehicle at a business.

At about 11:30 p.m., a police officer on patrol noticed a dome light on inside of a vehicle that was parked after hours on the lot of a commercial business in the 1100 block of College Street.

The officer decided to check it out and discovered someone kneeling down beside the door of a vehicle, according to a news release.

As the officer approached, the subject ran but was caught after a short foot chase.

Clarksville Police’s investigation concluded  Robert Allen, 49, of Clarksville had entered two vehicles.

He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with two counts of theft from motor vehicle.

His bond was set at $40,000.
