CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Police Department made 14 DUI arrests over the weekend, August 23-26. Four of these arrests involved motor vehicle crashes.

The remaining 10 incidents included the following: failure to maintain lane or swerving (one vehicle almost hit a patrol car), a driver overdosing and requiring police assistance, a 911 call for reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, an intoxicated man leaving a bar who was advised to get a ride home but chose to drive instead and a person driving a Walmart blue electric cart while intoxicated on the roadway.

Two of the weekend’s DUI arrests had previous DUI charges (second offense). Two had suspended or revoked licenses. Five refused to provide breath or blood samples in violation of the Implied Consent Law. Blood alcohol content ranged between .043 and .170. Ages of those arrested ranged from 22 to 67 years old. The majority of these arrests occurred between 9:30 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Law enforcement would like to remind the public that they will be out in force over the Labor Day weekend as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over initiative.
