CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department received a Four Star Award from the Tennessee Recreation & Parks Association (TPRA) for its renovation of the pavilion at Billy Dunlop Park.
The park, located at 1930 E. Boyscout Road, closed in October of 2019 for renovations as the pavilion had not been updated since the 1960s.
Billy Dunlop Park reopened in June of 2020, with new features that included creating a riverbank, a barrier at the river bed to help with erosion, as well as renovations to the pavilion to make it ADA Accessible. The restrooms were updated, and some of the walls were rebuilt, according to a news release.
The Renovated Facility Award (budget $500,000 or less) was awarded to Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation Department at the TPRA’s 69th Annual Conference.
“It’s a great honor to accept this award on behalf of Clarksville Parks & Recreation and the City of Clarksville,” Clarksville Parks & Recreation Director Jennifer Letourneau said in the news release.
“This project was much needed to better accommodate those with special needs, and we were able to update and give the facility a facelift in the process,” Letourneau continued.
