CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The City of Clarksville Park & Recreation Department recently received high honors for its quality and effectiveness of services from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).
TDEC presented the Department with a plaque signifying attainment of Tier III status in the State of Tennessee’s benchmark process.
“Only five cities in Tennessee have reached this Tier III accomplishment,” Mayor Kim McMillan said. “This is truly an honor for our Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department and means they are making sure the City is providing the best possible parks and recreation services to our citizens.”
The program is used to evaluate local parks and recreation organizations on best practices and in comparison to other departments. The goal of the benchmarking program is to increase efficiency and quality of services, while reducing costs.
This certification, in effect for five years, shows that Clarksville Parks and Recreation provides a solid level of service to the citizens of Clarksville. Tier III is the second highest status in this program. Clarksville’s next step will be national accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, which would allow the local department to obtain Tier IV status in the benchmarking process.
