CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The new 2018 Fall/Winter Clarksville Parks & Recreation Activity Guide is now available, offering details about scores of programs and events, a detailed map showing all 47 of the department’s parks, trails and facilities, and information about rentals for private functions.
The guide also offers information about 15 new events and programs from September to December in the City’s parks, recreation centers and indoor pool and includes information about current and upcoming park projects and improvements.
Here are some of the new programs you can find in the 2018 Fall/Winter Activity Guide:
– Family Field Day – Spend the day at Crow Recreation Center with your family competing in a variety of games to include cornhole, badminton, kickball and more from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17. Cost is free to participate with the exception of the $30 flag football tournament fee.
– Youth Volleyball League – Youth, grades 5-12 are invited to bump, set and spike their way through the winter as part of our new volleyball league. The season will run from Jan. 7 to Mar. 22 at Kleeman Recreation Center. Cost to participate is $65 per person. Pre-registration is required and ends Dec. 7.
– Forever Young Dodgeball Tournament — Relive your childhood by participating in one of the world’s oldest recess games from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Kleeman Recreation Center . Teams of five will compete in a single eliminations tournament and are encouraged to be prepared for friendly competition with a team name and wacky outfits. Open to adults, 21 and up. Pre-registration is required.
– Pop-up Park Mini Sessions — Mini photo sessions for couples, families, seniors, furry friends and more will take place from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct 5 at the Clarksville Greenway and from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8 at Christmas on the Cumberland. The cost for a mini session reservation is $30 and includes a 15 minute one-on-one portrait photography session and three hi-resolution, lightly edited digital photos. Pre-registration is required.
– Day with the Dead — Visitors are invited to Fort Defiance to meet people from the history of Clarksville and Montgomery County that are largely unfamiliar to most. Impersonations will include Naomi Sevier, Olive Renfro, Robert Renfro, Herbert Kimble, and Dr. Mary Edwards Walker. This free event will take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
– Beer & BBQ Fun Run — New to this year’s BBQ Bash is a fun run/walk where participants of all fitness levels are invited to race towards the finish line for beer and BBQ! Each participant will receive an event t-shirt. Awards will be given to the first three males and females to complete the course. Cost to participate is $25 for adults and $10 for children (12 and under). Prices will increase on Sept. 1.
