NASHVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Digital journalism innovation earned Clarksville Now top awards at the 74th annual Tennessee Association of Broadcasters Conference and first TAB Excellence in Broadcasting Awards.
In Best Locally Produced Digital Product for Radio Small Market, first place went to Katie Gambill (general manager) and Chris Smith (editor) for ClarksvilleNow.com.
“This is a great example of how traditional journalism and digital engagement should be working together in communities,” the judges said. “The website is well organized and easy to navigate. Social media engagement is strong. It appears that ClarksvilleNow.com is covering stories that might be overlooked were it not for the journalists who find and tell them.”
Clarksville Now was created by Gambill, general manager of 5 Star Media Group, in 2010. It has since grown to become the dominant digital news operation in Clarksville, with over 2 million page views per month. Clarksville Now also provides broadcast news to the nine 5 Star stations, including Q108 and Beaver 100.3 FM.
The statewide awards banquet was held Oct. 4 at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
