CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – With the conclusion of the 2023-24 high school football season, it’s time to honor players representing Montgomery County schools with the second annual Clarksville Now All-Area Football Team and Player of the Year.
There’s a wide variety of talented individuals who make up each high school team, but these players separated themselves from the rest. All statistics were contributed by Clarksville-area coaches or found on Max Preps.
Clarksville Now 2023 All-Area Football Team
Quarterback: Jacaryous Perryman, Fort Campbell High: Perriman helped account for 30 of the Falcons touchdowns this past season, and he did most of his damage under center. The sophomore threw for 1,321 passing yards, 18 passing touchdowns and only 9 interceptions. In addition, Perryman compiled 330 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 203 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns.
Quarterback: Jakoby Cox, Kenwood High: Cox threw for over 1,200 yards during the 2023-24 high school football season, which included tossing 8 touchdown passes and limiting his interceptions to 5. The sophomore quarterback also ran for 410 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns.
Running Back: James Dalrymple, Clarksville High: Dalyrmple was one of two running backs in the county to finish the season with over 1,000 yards rushing, according to the data gathered by Clarksville Now. In total, he finished his junior season with 1,175 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 122 passing yards, 3 touchdown passes and 6 catches for 73 receiving yards.
Running Back: DeAntwan Young Jr., Rossview High: Young finished with the second most rushing yards in the county during 2023 with 1,100 rushing yards. In addition to his 1,000-rushing yard season, he scored 11 rushing touchdowns.
Running Back: Ahmoyre Galbreath, Clarksville High: In addition to Dalrymple’s rushing production for the Wildcats, Galbreath compiled 108 carries for 866 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. He also had 58 tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries on defense.
Wide Receiver: Maurice Moore, Fort Campbell High: Moore served as wide receiver one for the Falcons, and he made his presence felt throughout the season for opposing defenses. The senior wideout hit 50 catches on the year for 881 receiving yards and 18 touchdown receptions. Moore also had 3 touchdowns as a return specialist.
Wide Receiver: Gavyn Hunter, Kirkwood High: In his first season with the Cobras, Hunter finished with the second most receptions (44) and receiving yards (739) in the county, according to Clarksville Now’s data. In addition, the junior wide receiver had 7 reception touchdowns for Kirkwood High.
Wide Receiver: Andrayas Scott, Clarksville Academy: Scott led the Cougars receiving core in numerous statistical categories, including receiving yards (394), receiving yards per game (49.3) and touchdown receptions (2).
Wide Receiver: Taylor Cramer, Northeast High: Cramer was a bright spot for the Eagles offense throughout their 10 games played. The senior brought in 15 catches for 209 yards, which included scoring 5 touchdown receptions.
Tight End: Collin Michael, Rossview High: Michael found ways to extend the field for the Hawks throughout his last year with the team. The tight end secured 20 catches for 404 yards and 7 touchdown receptions.
Offensive Line: Clarksville High: The Wildcats offensive line helped lead the Clarksville High football program to new heights this past season of play. They contributed to 4,592 yards of total offense and 67 touchdowns scored.
Defensive All-Area Football Team
Defensive End: Bryce Brooks, Northwest High: Brooks was one of the premier pass rushers throughout Montgomery County this season. The junior defensive end found his way to the quarterback for 11 sacks in 2023, and also had 59 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 3 fumble recoveries.
Defensive Tackle: Donovan Bowles, Clarksville High: Bowles was a force to be reckoned with due to his ability to get behind the line of scrimmage to make a play on the ball. The 6-foot-3 senior had 42 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks on the year.
Defensive End: Weston Boyd, Clarksville High: Boyd was another playmaker the Wildcats had on their defensive line during this past year. The defensive end had 57 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 7.5 sacks throughout his senior year.
Linebacker: Keshawn Dixon, Fort Campbell High: Following a promising freshmen season, Dixon exploded onto the scene once again in 2023. The sophomore linebacker totaled 176 total tackles this season, which included 12.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks.
Linebacker: Frederick Ellis II, Kenwood High: For the second consecutive year, Ellis is making an appearance on the Clarksville Now All-Area Team at linebacker. Ellis finished the year with 102 total tackles, 3 sacks and an impressive 5 forced fumbles. The senior also had a defensive touchdown, 397 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns in 2023.
Linebacker: Crissean Price, Fort Campbell High: Price was another linebacker for Fort Campbell who had over 100 total tackles on the season. The senior finished his last year with the team by totaling 147 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss and 4 sacks.
Linebacker: Kingston Leon, West Creek High: Leon had himself a career year for West Creek, in which he helped lead the Coyotes to their first playoff appearance in over 10 years. The junior linebacker finished 2023 with 100 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss and 1 sack.
Defensive Back: Isaiah Soto, Clarksville High: Soto becomes a two-time Clarksville Now All-Area Team selection after compiling 43 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 forced fumble and 7 interceptions in 2023.
Defensive Back: Kanyon Connor, Montgomery Central: Similarly to the previous selection, Conner has been selected to his second straight appearance on the Clarksville Now All-Area Team after filling up the stat sheet with 98 tackles, 9 passes deflected, 4 forced fumbles, 4 blocked extra point’s, 2 interceptions and 1 fumble recovery.
Defensive Back: TJ Dixon, Fort Campbell: Dixon was yet another player for the Falcons who collected 100 or more tackles this year. He finished his junior season with 113 total tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 4 interceptions.
Defensive Back: Deonta Crawford, Northwest High: Crawford was all over the field for the Northwest Vikings in 2023. The senior defensive back not only had 71 tackles, but also 1 sack, 1 interception, 3 forced fumbles. 5 fumble recoveries and 6 passes deflected.
Defensive Back: Anthony Holland, Montgomery Central: This is Holland’s second time being selected to the Clarksville Now All-Area team. The junior safety snagged 6 interceptions in 2023.
Punter: Zach Pierce, Clarksville Academy: Pierce helped flip field position whenever called upon by the Cougars team. He ended 2023 with an average of 46.5 yards per punt.
Placekicker: Charlie Balthrop, Clarksville High: Balthrop set a program record with 50 made extra point attempts. He also added to his point total by going 4 for 4 on field goal attempts.
Clarksville Now Player of the Year
James Dalrymple, starting running back for Clarksville High, has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Dalrymple showcased his power and exclusiveness all year for the Wildcats, which led the offense to some historic heights.
The junior running back compiled 1,175 rushing yards in 2023, which means he averaged around 107 rushing yards per game. Dalrymple also had 18 rushing touchdowns, 122 passing yards, 3 touchdown passes and 6 catches for 73 receiving yards in 2023.
Dalrymple secured his place in Clarksville High history by helping his team break the program’s all-time scoring record, while missing the county’s scoring record by a mere two points. Clarksville High also went undefeated throughout the regular season for the first time since 1945, according to previous reports.
Dalrymple became the 13th Clarksville High running back to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season.
