CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The 2023-24 baseball season in Clarksville was exciting to say the least. The year was filled with twists, turns and upsets; culminated in district championships from Montgomery Central and Rossview High, as well as state tournament runs from Clarksville High and Clarksville Academy.
It’s now time to honor players representing Montgomery County schools with the 2024 Clarksville Now All-Area Baseball Team and Player of the Year.
There’s a wide variety of talented individuals who make up each high school team, but these players separated themselves from the rest. All statistics were contributed by Clarksville-area coaches.
Clarksville Now 2024 All-Area Baseball Team
Collin Windham: Senior, Clarksville High – Windham’s offensive numbers jump off the page. The senior rightfielder batted .427, tallying 64 hits, 53 RBIs and 3 home runs. The Roane State signee also snagged 25 stolen bases for the Wildcats.
Hunter Swanson: Senior, Northwest High – Swanson was a steady force at third base for the Vikings in 2024. The Roane State signee had a .362 AVG, tallying 18 RBIs, doubles and ten stolen bases.
Brady Cooper: Senior, Rossview High – Cooper’s barrel always seemed to find the ball. The Austin Peay signee had a .398 average, tallying. 39 RBIs on 49 hits.
Nathan Lucas: Senior, West Creek – Lucas was a consistent hitter for his Coyote squad. He earned a batting average of .386, tallying 12 RBIS on 22 hits, stealing 16 bases and had an on base percentage of .602.
Cade Cocke: Senior, Clarksville Christian- The Senior Captain hit .500 with 11 doubles, 3 HR and scored 32 runs this season at the plate. On the mound, Cocke went 3-1 with a 2.14 ERA with 46 K and 18 BB in 9 appearances for the Centurions this season.
Brenen Gibson: Junior, Clarksville Academy – Gibson was an offensive weapon for the Cougars in 2024. The District MVP posted a .459 AVG, tallying 36 RBIS and 4 home runs, along with adding 12 stolen bases.
Caden Slaughter: Junior, Rossview High – Slaughter was a hitting machine for the Hawks. The junior shortstop averaged .374, tallying 39 RBIs on 40 hits.
Cole Jobe: Junior, Rossview High – The Hawks main reliever was consistent in all areas on the mound. Jobe tallied 37.1 innings pitched, earning seven saves, a 1.50 ERA and only allowed a batting average of .154 against him. He also struck out 40 batters.
Kirk Weatherford: Junior, Clarksville High – Weatherford’s two-way prowess was key in Clarksville’s run to the state tournament. Offensively, he batted .395, tallying 23 RBIs on 62 hits, as well as 25 stolen bases. On the mound, Weatherford earned a 1.75 ERA and tallied 22 strikeouts
Korbin Reynolds: Junior, Clarksville High – Reynolds was solid both behind the dish and at the plate for the Wildcats. The Vanderbilt commit batted .423, tallying 55 hits, and 37 RBIs.
Jack Wyatt: Junior, Clarksville High – Wyatt, an outfielder and pitcher, got hot at just the right time to help elevate CHS to the state tournament. Offensively, the switch hitter had a .326 AVG, with a .471 on base percentage, tallying 32 RBIs on 45 hits. On the mound, Wyatt posted a perfect 9-0 record, earning a 2.26 ERA and allowing a .214 batting average against.
Bricen Moore: Junior, Northwest High – Moore was another player who was reliable behind the dish and at the plate for his Viking Squad. He earned a batting average of .324, tallying 18 RBIs, 6 doubles and 4 home runs. Moore also added 14 stolen bases on the season.
Colton Wallace: Sophomore, Clarksville Academy – Wallace was a crucial piece in the Cougars state tournament run. On the mound, Wallace went 6-0 with a 2.21 ERA in 44 innings pitched. He also got it done at the plate, batting .322.
Micheal Anderson: Sophomore, Fort Campbell – Anderson was a two-way force for the Falcons. Offensively, Anderson had an average of .310, driving in 8 runs on 22 hits, as well as grabbing 12 stolen bases. On the mound, Anderson amassed 48 strikeouts in 53.0 innings pitched.
Cameron Skaggs: Sophomore, Northeast High – Skaggs was a force offensively, and came equipped with a nasty curveball. The two-way player got it done offensively with a .324 average. As for on the mound, he only allowed a .244 batting average against.
Clarksville Now Player of the Year
Player of the Year: Gabriel Eddington, Montgomery Central – A 3A Mr. Baseball finalist, Eddington was a two-way force for his Indian squad. The senior pitcher and shortstop batted .484 with 16 RBIS, as well as a school record 42 stolen bases. Defensively, Eddington went 8-2 on the mound, earning a 1.82 ERA and posting 86 strikeouts.
Offensive Player of the Year: Julian Richards, Rossview High – As the leadoff man for the Hawks, Richards was electric with a batting average of .441, tallying 56 hits and 25 RBIs. To add to those numbers, Richards had a ridiculous on base percentage of .717, as well as 25 stolen bases.
Pitcher of the Year: Christian Henderson, Clarksville High – Clarksville High’s ace was lights out for the Wildcats. The Carson Newman signee tallied 60.1 innings pitched, earning a 1.50 ERA and posted a 7-1 record with 71 strikeouts. The most important number? Opponents batted a combined .194 against Henderson.
Freshman of the Year: Dylan Fulton, Montgomery Central – Fulton was a spark plug for the Indians, on both sides of the plate. Offensively, the catcher posted a .446 average, tallying 32 RBIs on 27 Hits. He also had three home runs. Defensively, Fulton went 2-0 on the mound in 28.2 IP. The freshman had a 2.44 ERA, along with 22 strikeouts.
