CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Ben Clark, a Clarksville native and international adventurer, has created a feature film showcasing his amazing journey through the Himalayan mountains in Bhutan.
‘The Snowman Trek’ was filmed by Clark himself on two cameras small enough to carry in his pockets during the trip. He and two of his friends, who happen to run ultra marathons, decided to break a record by finishing Bhutan’s brutal Snowman Trek in two weeks instead of the typical four.
The film captures both the physical and cultural experiences of three friends hiking an unforgiving mountain course.

“We’re doing something really different and unique. You don’t see outdoor films like this or adventure films like this usually hitting the big screen,” Clark said. “Bhutan is a really exciting and different type of endeavor. The whole adventure sort of teetered on the edge of failure as we waited to see each day how far we really could make it.”
‘The Snowman Trek’ premiered Thursday, May 17 at Clarksville Stadium 16 and opened nationwide at 400 other theaters. You can catch a special encore presentation of the film Tuesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at Clarksville Stadium 16.
Clark is excited to bring the film to his hometown of Clarksville, which he loves. He hopes to expose more people locally to this type of experience. Clark spent the majority of his 20s exploring the Himalayas and wants to share his sense of adventure and wonder with others through this film.
Clark says for those who want to go after similar pursuits, you have to embrace the possibility of failure.
“If everyone is saying no but in your heart you feel that you are right and you want to test that, then you should go do it,” he said. “I had to overcome feelings of being very uncomfortable, feeling uncertain or wrong about it. Until I actually succeeded at whatever I had created these expectations around, whether it was climbing a mountain or making a film, I was basically just wrong and anxious about it.”
